BoatMove Customer Terms & Conditions

Version 2.1 – Founding Edition (Effective 3 September 2026)

1. Welcome to BoatMove

BoatMove is an online marketplace that connects boat owners and authorised representatives ("Customers") with independent, vetted boat delivery companies ("Vetted Delivery Companies").

BoatMove is not a boat delivery company and does not provide delivery services itself. Our role is to help Customers obtain competitive quotations, introduce suitable Vetted Delivery Companies and facilitate the booking process.

By using BoatMove you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

2. How BoatMove Works

Step 1 – Choose Who Quotes You

Submit your delivery request through BoatMove.

We'll show you a shortlist of Vetted Delivery Companies who match your route, together with their company name, category, rating and a short profile. You choose which of them to invite to quote — you can send your request to everyone shown, or narrow it down yourself.

Step 2 – Receive Quotations

BoatMove invites the Vetted Delivery Companies you selected to submit quotations.

Every quotation stays valid for at least 7 days and states its own validity date. Delivery companies set their own prices and BoatMove does not verify them.

You may receive one or several quotations depending upon availability. Quotations are shown under the delivery company's real company name throughout, so you know exactly who you're comparing.

Step 3 – Select a Vetted Delivery Company

Review the quotations.

You may communicate directly with any Vetted Delivery Company before deciding whether to proceed.

You are under no obligation to accept any quotation.

When a quotation is accepted, all other quotations for that request are automatically withdrawn. Accepting a quotation counts as your confirmation to proceed.

Step 4 – Confirm Your Booking

Once you and your selected Vetted Delivery Company both agree to proceed, each party confirms the booking.

A booking is only in place once both sides have confirmed through the platform. At this point BoatMove issues a booking reference and contact details are exchanged by email between both sides (and to the introducing broker, where applicable).

You will deal directly with the Vetted Delivery Company for payment of the delivery price, in accordance with their own payment terms.

Step 5 – Delivery & Completion

The Vetted Delivery Company completes the agreed delivery.

The delivery company (or BoatMove) marks the job complete on the platform. Customers should contact BoatMove support if a completed delivery has not been closed off correctly.

3. Definitions

BoatMove means the operator of BoatMove.com.

Broker means an independent yacht broker, dealer or other introducer acting on behalf of a Customer.

Broker Commission means a fee added to the delivery price by a Broker, collected by the Vetted Delivery Company and passed on to the Broker.

Customer means the individual or organisation requesting quotations.

Vetted Delivery Company means an independent delivery company approved to participate on the BoatMove platform.

Introduction means the introduction of a Customer to one or more Vetted Delivery Companies through BoatMove.

Confirmed Booking means a booking where both the Customer and the selected Vetted Delivery Company have confirmed that they wish to proceed.

Delivery Price means the total amount payable by the Customer directly to the Vetted Delivery Company for the delivery (which may include a Broker Commission where applicable).

BoatMove Facilitation Fee means a commission payable by the Vetted Delivery Company to BoatMove for providing the marketplace platform. This is already included in the quoted Delivery Price and is not an additional charge to the Customer.

4. BoatMove's Role

BoatMove provides a marketplace and introduction service.

BoatMove:

  • receives delivery enquiries;
  • distributes enquiries to suitable Vetted Delivery Companies;
  • facilitates quotations;
  • enables communication;
  • supports the booking process.

BoatMove does not:

  • carry out deliveries;
  • employ Delivery Companies;
  • guarantee quotations;
  • guarantee prices;
  • guarantee availability;
  • become a party to the delivery contract.

The delivery contract exists solely between the Customer and the selected Vetted Delivery Company.

5. Selecting a Vetted Delivery Company

Customers are free to compare quotations and communicate directly with Vetted Delivery Companies before confirming a booking.

BoatMove encourages open communication to ensure both parties fully understand the proposed delivery.

BoatMove may record when communication is initiated for audit, customer support and platform integrity purposes.

6. Payment and Fees

No payment is ever due to BoatMove at any point, and BoatMove adds no mark-up or booking fee of its own. The quoted price is fully inclusive of the BoatMove Facilitation Fee.

However, where you are dealing through a Broker, dealer or other introducer, the price quoted to you may include that Broker's own commission (as described in Section 7 below).

You will deal directly with the Vetted Delivery Company for payment of the total delivery price, in accordance with their own invoicing and payment terms.

BoatMove does not hold, handle, or process Customer funds and does not act as an escrow or payment agent. Any dispute over the delivery price, invoices, or refunds is solely between you and the Vetted Delivery Company, although BoatMove will assist in good faith where possible.

7. Buying through a Broker or Dealer

Some customers come to BoatMove through a yacht broker, dealer or other introducer ("Broker"), who may create the request, obtain and compare quotations, and accept a quotation or confirm or cancel a booking on the customer's behalf.

The Broker must have the customer's authority to do so and to pass their contact details to BoatMove and to matched delivery companies.

The Broker may add its own commission of up to 20% on top of the delivery company's price. Consequently, the price the customer is shown by their Broker may be higher than the delivery company's own quotation. That commission is collected by the delivery company with the delivery price and paid on to the Broker. BoatMove neither receives nor handles it.

The Broker is responsible for disclosing its remuneration to its customer, and the customer is entitled to ask their Broker whether a commission is included and how much it is. BoatMove will confirm on request whether a Broker Commission has been recorded against the customer's booking.

The Broker is not BoatMove's agent and BoatMove is not responsible for advice the Broker gives. Nothing in this section affects the fact that no money is ever payable to BoatMove.

8. Cancellation Policy

A booking can be cancelled through the platform while it is awaiting confirmation or after it has been confirmed but before the delivery has been carried out. A reason must be given. Once a delivery has been completed, it cannot be cancelled.

Cancelling a booking also withdraws the selected quotation and closes the request.

Because BoatMove holds no funds, it has nothing to refund. Any deposits, cancellation charges, or costs already incurred are strictly between you and the delivery company under the delivery company's own terms, which you should review before confirming a booking.

Where a Broker Commission was recorded, it ceases to be payable upon cancellation, except on any sums the delivery company keeps for work already performed.

We ask that cancellations are notified through the platform as early as possible so the Vetted Delivery Company and any crew can be stood down. Repeated late cancellations without genuine reason may lead to restriction or suspension of your BoatMove account.

9. Fair Use of the Platform

BoatMove invests significantly in attracting Customers, vetting Delivery Companies, operating the marketplace, and supporting bookings.

Vetted Delivery Companies are contractually obligated not to take a BoatMove-introduced booking off-platform to avoid the BoatMove Facilitation Fee.

As a Customer, you agree to keep initial introductions and communications on the platform, and you must not solicit Vetted Delivery Companies off-platform to circumvent BoatMove's marketplace process.

10. Messages sent through BoatMove

Messages sent through the platform are automatically screened. Email addresses, telephone numbers, links and similar contact details are hidden from the recipient unless the sender first declares that the conversation is moving off-platform.

Declaring an off-platform conversation is permitted but is logged and may be reviewed by BoatMove for platform integrity.

BoatMove retains both the original and the screened version of messages. Sharing contact details in order to avoid BoatMove's involvement in an introduction it made is not permitted.

11. Customer Responsibilities

Customers agree to:

  • provide accurate vessel information;
  • disclose any material changes affecting the proposed delivery;
  • communicate honestly with Delivery Companies;
  • comply with marina, port and legal requirements;
  • provide reasonable access to the vessel.

12. Liability

BoatMove acts solely as an independent marketplace.

Except where prohibited by law, BoatMove is not responsible for:

  • the performance of any delivery;
  • delays;
  • weather;
  • mechanical failures;
  • acts or omissions of Vetted Delivery Companies;
  • disputes arising under the delivery contract.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under the laws of England and Wales.

13. Privacy

BoatMove processes personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy.

Information may be shared with Vetted Delivery Companies where necessary to obtain quotations and facilitate bookings.

14. Reviews and Feedback

After a completed delivery the customer will be invited to review the delivery company. Reviews are submitted through the platform and are published only after BoatMove has reviewed them. BoatMove may decline to publish or may hide a review that is abusive, defamatory, irrelevant or manipulated.

Feedback is two-way, so the delivery company may also review the customer (including on communication and payment promptness), and those reviews are moderated in the same way. Reviews must be honest and based on genuine experience.

15. Changes to These Terms

BoatMove may amend these Terms from time to time. The latest version will always be available on BoatMove.com.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
